Solution Covertly Tracks Vehicles or Stolen Goods Even Where GPS Does Not Work

ATLANTA (October 30, 2007) – Omnilink Systems, a leader in location-based services technology (LBS), today announced the general availability of its covert surveillance solution for law enforcement agencies. Omnilink provides LBS solutions that go beyond the traditional GPS-based offerings to provide the real-time location of people and valuable assets, even where GPS solutions do not work.

Omnilink's covert surveillance solution, a combination of a small tracking device and Omnilink's FocalPoint software, gives law enforcement the ability to easily and covertly track vehicles or stolen goods during criminal investigations. While traditional GPS-based surveillance products lose track of goods or vehicles whenever they move out of the line-of-sight of global positioning satellites, Omnilink's covert surveillance solution works anywhere.  Through a combination of GPS and cellular technology, the Omnilink covert surveillance solution can track outdoors and indoors, and thus provides a way for law enforcement officers to follow the movement of tracked property constantly, anywhere it goes.

Law enforcement agencies use Omnilink's covert surveillance solution in several ways.  Using a magnet mount, the tracking device can be easily installed in seconds under vehicles for covert vehicle tracking.  Officers can then follow a vehicle in real time using Omnilink's web-based FocalPoint software, while capturing its location history for evidentiary purposes. 

The solution can also be used to investigate suspected cases of organized retail crime involving high-value consumer goods. Investigators, working in conjunction with a retailer's loss prevention or asset protection department, can insert the Omnilink tracking device into the packaging of products being used for undercover retail crime investigations.  Detectives can then track the movement of the goods to uncover organized crime activities, such as gangs of professional shoplifters.
